Reff & Associates | Deloitte Legal opens the applications for students to participate in „Law is Awesome!”, a development programme for the business lawyers of the future

The programme will run from February to April 2022 and consists of two group workshops per week, a coaching session and a one-day job shadowing session. During the training courses facilitated by lawyers part of the firm's "traditional" practice areas, such as mergers and acquisitions, real estate, banking and finance and IP, the participants will learn, amongst others, how to draft and negotiate an agreement, how to perform a due diligence project, which are the main techniques for discovering and investigating internal frauds in the business environment, but also how to deal with dispute resolution projects. Under the guidance of the lawyers with an interdisciplinary specialisation in law, technology and business, part of the Legal Management Consulting department of Reff & Associates | Deloitte Legal, the participants will get exposed to alternative career paths that imply the provision of legal services that blend business management consulting expertise with the next-generation legal tech solutions and tools.

Additionally, specialists from the Human Resources department of Deloitte Romania will guide them on starting building a personal brand on Linkedin from an early stage of their career, share tips for preparing for a successful interview and will let them know which are the skills making them stand out in a recruitment process. Participants will also benefit from courses facilitated by foreign trainers from the Deloitte Legal international network, from which they will learn how to draft legal advice in English, as well as from sessions with other specialists from Deloitte Romania, such as tax consultants, together with whom the lawyers collaborate all the times in multidisciplinary projects.

Now in its fifth edition, the programme includes modernised training modules that will allow the students to get up to speed with the latest business market challenges, with what working in a hybrid environment looks like and with the next-generation tech solutions and tools available to lawyers. Nowadays, the lawyers are exposed to law, technology and innovative business ideas and keeping up with the constantly changing business environment is not an easy task. The interest in the business world, the curiosity and the critical thinking need to be developed since the law school years. Through the interactive group training sessions and the exercises that we facilitate, we support the students’ journey in finding their career path and learning what a business lawyer’s job actually implies, regardless of the area of specialization. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with some of the firm’s clients, in order to better understand a client’s expectations from its lawyer," said

In total 130 students participated in the previous editions of the programme, and some of them were recruited within the firm.
